On behalf of our high profile client in Nanaimo, Ignite Technical Resources is looking for
an Oracle Senior Database Administrator and Systems Administrator for
a permanent opportunity.
The successful candidate will:

Be responsible for developing and maintaining database installation and
configuration standards.
Manage database backup and recovery strategies and develop disaster recovery
plans.
Maintain database performance by calculating optimum values for database
parameters, implementing new releases and completing maintenance requirements.
Install and administer application systems, propose specifications, recommend
optimum access techniques and coordinate installation requirements.
Cooperate with the Infrastructure team on evaluation of computer operation systems
and hardware products, coordinates support for operating systems and hardware on
which databases and application systems reside.
Be responsible for data integrity and security.
Propose table structures and ensures proper table design standards are followed.
Develop PL/SQL code and ensures that PL/SQL code development standards are
followed.
Understand the data stored in databases and their relationships.
Develop reports and ETL processes.
Create and maintain accurate and concise documentation, installation, configuration
and maintenance of all supported systems.
Researches, tests and deploys solutions for a wide variety of enterprise systems,
problems and needs.
Leads or is a member of teams working on small to large-scale IT projects.
Provide support to all client sites in the local area.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computing Science or a related field from an accredited
institution.
Minimum 8 years of IT experience and 4 years of current, relevant and directly
related experience.
Oracle DBA certified (11g or higher preferred).
Demonstrated strengths in Oracle Database Administration and
Systems Administration.
Strong PL/SQL development skills.
Experience developing reports and ETL processes.
Experience developing OS scripts using scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Perl).
Excellent communication, collaborations and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to produce and maintain high quality technical documentation.
Ability to conduct research, produce reports and make appropriate
recommendations.

Ability to work in a high-pressure environment, requiring proficiency in multitasking,
prioritizing and meeting deadlines.
Willingness to travel, as required, to other local campuses.
Preferred Qualifications:

SQL server database administration experience.
Experience in Operating Systems including Linux/Unix, Windows and VMS.
Experience with TOAD, SQL Developer, LDAP and/or Active Directory.
Programming experience in modern programming languages and especially object
oriented languages.
Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and confirmed satisfactory driving record.
Compensation:
A comprehensive compensation package is provided including an excellent benefits package.
The salary range for this position is $73,210 - $87,477.
