Grade 8 Science Task – Making a Cell
Learning Goal: Demonstrate my/our understanding of either a plant or animal cell and the key
organelles that keep it working.
Success Criteria:
 I/We have used a model, poster or other means to successfully represent a cell.
 I/We have included and labelled eight or more organelles on my/our model/diagram.
 I/We have included a written component to my/our work detailing the function of each organelle
in my/our model/poster, as well as how my/our cell functions as a whole.
Possible ideas for making the cell include: Using Jello and fruit to create a model, using Plastercine or
play dough to create a cell, drawing an accurate representation of a cell on poster paper, using
computer software to draw a cell, etc.
