Listen or ignore – regulatory networks determine the
cellular response to DNA damage
Wednesday 11 March 2009

auditorium, Winsløwparken 25
Abstract:
DNA damage results in cell death, DNA repair, or malignant transformation.
The decision between these outcomes is not just determined by the extent of
DNA lesions. Rather, the cells adjust their sensitivity to DNA damage through
a signalling network that can be adjusted e. g. through the tumor
suppressors p53 and BRCA1. We have identified additional “nods” within this
network by a high content cell screening approach. Current research inserts
these new players into the existing models of the DNA damage response.
