The impregnation is the pre-stage of production of laminated flooring panels. Decor raw paper is taken
from rolls and becomes impregnated with melamine and urea resin. After that it will be dried and winding
on impregnation coils or lay down as impregnation sheet on palettes.

We had always problems with a lot of losses in the production process. We knew, where they arise. But
we could not quantify the amount of losses. To solve the problem we get a recommendation to contact the
company AVI GmbH. The company has a large knowledge in the use of control of maschines an devices.
AVI developed an operating data system for logging, handling and processing coming from control
system. The year is 2003.
In the first step we tested the system on one machine for impregnation. It was difficult to record data in
the relation with time and amount. Suitable to machine control, the new hardware was deployed and algorithm were generated to solve the problem.
The result was a huge database system, which includes the connection between used material (raw paper
and resin) and aimed product: paper of impregnation. A lot of reports were created for some analytical
tasks.
In these reports you get the information about the amount of raw paper and resin for impregantion. At the
same time the operation properies of machines were prepared with new information. The sources of losses
were detected and the limitation of losses could started (reduction of 60 percent). Complaints towards the
supplier of raw paper succeeded.
The operation characteristics of machines for impregation were adjusted to an optimized use of resin. In
the processing workflow the production of resin is before the machines of impregation and had also a influence on losses. This finalized to savings in resin.
By the use of system with widespread possibilities a lot of moves in the organisation we could put
through. These moves had also a positiv influence. Currently all machines are upgraded.

This success in Lampertswalde was the reason to introduce the system aswell in a similarly plant of Kronospan. Thus the quality of our
products was reliably. For this reason the name of „LuQ2“ was created.
The internet based version allows the access to all reports in the different management area of our company. You can recognize the current data of production, the machine utilization an the amount of production
of one shift, of a day or of a month. So decisions can be influenced.
For our purpose the system LuQ2 is expandable and we can recommend other production companies to
use LuQ2 aswell.
