DISTRICT INDUSTRIES & COMMERCE CENTER , DARRANG
With an aim for rapid industrialization,
the Central Govt. presented the Industrial
Policy in the Parliament in the month of
August’1977 which eventually paved the way
for creation of District Industries Centers
(DIC),
renamed
in
Assam
as
District
Industries & Commerce Center (DI&CC)
w.e.f. 2000 , all over the country

quartered in the District Head Quarter.
District Industries & Commerce Center , Darrang , headquartered at Mangaldoi was
established in August’1986.
Inter alia, the services rendered by
DICs are – identification of feasible & viable
schemes , preparation of project profiles and
project reports, liaising with banks / financial
institutions for necessary finance to start
these ventures, implementation of various
State and Central Industrial Policies and
packages
imparting

declared
from
entrepreneurship
time
to
time,
development
training to prospective entrepreneurs etc.
The main schemes which are being implemented by the DICC are , Prime Minister’s
Employment Generation Programmes , Mukhy Mantrir Karmajyoti Achoni, Assam Vikash
Yojana , Kalpataru Achoni, State Industrial Policy , North East Industrial and Investment
Promotion Policy’2007(NEIIPP’2007). These schemes have been a huge success in
arresting the burgeoning unemployment problems of the district.
