In August 2008 a new and more accurate fertility
evaluation system called SCR (Sire Conception Rate) was
released. SCR rankings are based on artificial
insemination data collected from US dairy farms,
replacing Estimated Relative Conception Rates or ERCR.
The SCR, which includes confirmed pregnancy
information, gains significant power by including
adjustments for the bull, cow as well as A.I. details.
Semex works diligently to ensure that our product is the
very best available, meeting or exceeding industry
standards. Looking closely at the new SCR numbers it is
no surprise that Semex sires once again exceed industry
standards, ranking well above the average of “0” for
SCR. Figures 1 & 2 below show Semex sires leading in
both the range of SCR numbers (Figure 1) and the
average SCR of all bulls by genetic supplier (Figure 2).
Looking at the SCR range of all actively marketed Semex
sires as well as competitor sires, Semex Repromax sire
0200HO07030 Ladino Park Talent blew away all others
with an amazing SCR of +11.4! Talent is not alone, with
85% of the 45 active Semex sires included in the 8/08
SCR summary scoring above average for fertility. Of
those bulls, 33% scored an amazing SCR of +3.0 or
higher, proving that Semex’s focus on fertility and
increasing dairymen’s profitability by reducing days
open, makes Semex sires an easy choice.
