Sierra Leonean company Nedoil was established in 2007. Nedoil belongs to the Natural Habitats
Group of companies (NHG), fully committed to the sustainable production of organic fair-trade palm
oil. NHG has marketing companies in the US and The Netherlands, and also has a track record in
producing organic palm oil in Ecuador.
The Project Purpose
The AECF – Natural Habitats Limited project purpose is to achieve economies-of-scale for the Sierra
Leone operations and meet demand through production of organic palm oil. The underlying project
has been developed to enhance current product portfolio and expand smallholder outgrower base
of Nedoil.
Expected Outcomes
Over the project period, Natural Habitats Limited will:
1. Expand existing Fresh Fruit Branche, increase small holder farmers in the outgrower scheme
and obtain organic and fair-for-life certification
2. Establish a palm kernel (PK) outgrower scheme of 2,000 smallholder farmers and obtain fairfor-life certification
3. Establish a fertilizer production unit and palm kern oil (PKO) production unit
The project will directly benefit 5,000 households with an annual income of US$ 161 which will at the
end of the project result to a total benefit of US$ 805,000.
