Latin Roots 4
To be successful at this assignment, follow these important guidelines:
• Follow the assigned format and produce neat, easily read work. Use dark blue or black ink.
• Underline the Latin roots in vocabulary words and in context sentences.
• Use format numbers to sequence your work in parts one and two. Place these numbers just inside the pink
left margin line. Don’t write words under the format numbers.
• Skip a line before and after each context sentence.
• Complete both parts of the assignment.
Part 1 (all students): Title your paper Greek Roots 4. Skip a line and use the Part 1 subtitle. Skip a line and copy
the assigned roots on your paper exactly as you see them here.

The roots sol or soli mean “alone, lonely or single”
The roots solv, solu, or solut mean “loosen”
The roots ver, vera, or veri mean “true or truth”
The roots vid or vis mean “look or sight”
Part 2 Two words exemplifying each root have been provided. For each word, do the following: Use the Part 2
subtitle. Use format numbers to sequence the words. Write down the word. Using a dictionary, write out the part
of speech and the first definition. Skip a line and use the word in a context sentence. You must use the word
according to its meaning and the part of speech you have listed. Circle, highlight, or boldface the context clue in
your sentence.
