Overview
The Software Radio Technology plc (SRT) group is the global leader in Automatic Identification System (AIS)
based maritime safety and security systems.
Seeking a way to lessen the dependency on their office-based technology, to improve connectivity, and to back up
and access supply chain information in the event of disaster, Software Radio Technology chose T-Tech as a technology
partner.
Challenges
Below average connectivity and lacking a well defined data back-up strategy Software Radio Technology had been
making do with a technology infrastructure that had past its prime. Although advanced in their early move to cloud
computing, the technology had since moved on and improvements needed to be made through replacing legacy
systems and taking advantage of new off-premise technology.
Old versions of software, aging servers and limited broadband access meant that not only was business efficiency
being affected, but there was also a risk to the company’s supply chain and inventory database. Multiple, disparate
networks posed a threat to security, while remote access and the ability to work off-line needed to be improved as the
company expanded, servicing vessels, buoys and tens of thousands of ports around the world.
The Solution
Working in partnership with Software Radio Technology, T-Tech produced a plan of action that would significantly
improve Software Radio Technology’s operational IT and set them on a better path for future technology strategy.

Following a comprehensive review and, in ongoing consultancy with the client, T-Tech
project will include the following:
n Taking advantage of the Government’s Broadband Connection Voucher Scheme, facilitated by T-Tech as an official
supplier, and providing Software Radio Technology with a connection voucher worth £3,000 for faster, better
broadband.
n A move to Microsoft 365 Office Professional, providing them with email and document access across multiple
devices and backed up by the Cloud.
n To upgrade and replace hardware and software that has reached its end of life, or for which better versions are now
available.
n A secure but accessible cloud-based back up of the company’s supply chain and inventory which enables the
company to continue operating should anything happen to their physical business premises.
n A move to a single sign-on model which will improve internal security and simplify the process of logging in to
multiple systems for employees.
n Improved remote and speed of access with the introduction of latest cloud and data centre technologies, including
access to T-Tech’s own datacentre which includes Solid State server technology.
n Improved security with a review of firewalls, servers, email clients and networks.
