Earthquake Project
Purpose: To develop an understanding of earthquakes and what causes them by studying
the effects earthquakes have had on people and places in a specific region.
Task:
1. From a given list, choose a specific earthquake from earth’s history to study.
2. Research your earthquake and complete a fact sheet.
3. Create a project of your choice that demonstrates your understanding about
earthquakes by giving information about the specific earthquake. Use the information
on your fact sheet to create your project. Find interesting pictures to enhance your
project.
4. Be prepared to present your final project to the class.
5. Below are the possible project choices:
1. Pretend you are a scientist who just completed field work on a specific
earthquake. Your job is to report back to your company with all of the
details you learned about that earthquake while you were in the field.
*You may present your information to the company (your class ) by
creating a trifold poster, a power point, or a prezi.
2. Suppose you are a reporter who was on location and experienced an
earthquake. Write an article about your experiences to be published in a
scientific journal on earthquakes.
If you have your own creative project that you would like to do,
please see me to get approval.
