A message from the President—
Lee Huber
Welcome to the inaugural Mansfield One Act Play Festival. The Arts Council of Mansfield is delighted to be hosting this wonderful event and we would like to thank you all for coming along and supporting this presentation of community based theatre arts. A One Act Play Festival provides the perfect platform for actors, writers and direc‐
tors to develop and hone their skills whilst providing a fantastic, informative and entertaining weekend of theatre for enthusiastic audiences. This event is a result of the passion and drive of one of our committee members, Kammy Cordner Hunt. It was Kammy’s vision that brought this event to life and we are very grateful to her for all of the work she has done to create, organise and de‐
liver such a successful inaugural One Act Play festival. Thank you Kammy! I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank our event sponsors and partners who have given their support so generously to ensure the success of this event. Without their assistance, this event would not have been able to take place – we thank them wholeheartedly for their support: The Delatite Hotel Eisner’s Pharmacy Mansfield District Property Group Orange Safari Woollybutt Marketing Mermaids B&B High Country Wine Cellars High Country Accommodation The Mansfield Courier Mansfield Musical and Dramatic Society (MMuDS) We hope you enjoy the Arts Council of Mansfield’s inaugural One Act Play Festival. A message from the Organiser Kammy Cordner Hunt
Welcome thespians and theatre‐buffs to Mansfield! Thank you for your support in bringing your One Act Play or Monologue to perform in this event – or for coming to watch the brilliant efforts of those who have. Mansfield’s two local Arts‐driven groups – MMuDS and the Arts Council– have been cultivating a taste for theatre in this town over many years – a taste for performing and a taste for enjoying a good live show. The idea for holding a One Act Play Festival came about when a small group of local actors decided collectively to take their short play about autism, “Skin Bags”, around to the One Act Play season events for which regional Victoria is so famous. We had first hand experience of the nature of these events. They are a crucible of talent, energy, commitment and fire‐in‐the‐belly passion. Here is where the great creative minds of theatre congregate, compare, contest, congratulate. They share in each other’s ideas and success. When the new kid on the block comes along, they encourage and support.. We saw talent that started in this system move onwards and upwards, propelled by what is learned here. These One Act Play Festivals do lead on to other things for many involved. It is why they have been running successfully in regional towns for up to 80 years. The skills of the theatre industry are nurtured, developed, rewarded, and discovered. Those of us involved in “Skin Bags” – Ian, Mel, Sandy and myself – wanted to bring this unique theatre event to Mansfield. We wanted to share it with our friends here, and we wanted to share Mansfield with these theatre people – it’s only taken us 5 years, but here we are at last… Once again I thank the amazingly talented and passionate people who have come here to share their work with us this weekend – may this be the first of many! . 5

Most importantly, Judy remains involved in dramaturgy and, significantly, the mentoring of a number of up and coming new playwrights.
