SCHOOL VISION STATEMENT
Arndell School’s vision is to educate students in a calm, safe,
supportive environment that values each student and their
learning goals both academically and behaviourally.
SCHOOL CONTEXT
Arndell School is located on the grounds of Macquarie
Hospital and is a special school catering for the behavioural
and emotional needs of students on a 4day 1day basis. The
students are at Arndell for about three terms..
The school provides a stimulating curriculum for students
aged 5-10 years, with remedial and extension programs in
literacy, and numeracy founded on a strong commitment to
equality of opportunity.
The focus of the school is the explicit teaching and
reinforcement of social and emotional skills within the
Personal Development/ Health/Physical Education key
learning area.
SCHOOL PLANNING PROCESS
Staff has been involved in several meetings to discuss and
formulate the plan. All staff provided input as Arndell
School operates in a supportive team environment.
Input was also gained from the parents who were asked to
reflect on the goals and practices of the school and provide
suggestions for future directions.
The school plan’s short term and long term goals are on
the weekly agenda for staff meetings, to which all staff
attend. The monitoring is done regularly to keep the focus
on track.
Communication and cooperation between Arndell School,
home schools and families of Arndell students is essential in
enabling the best possible outcomes for our students.
In 2015 the partnership with Coral Tree Family Service
fundamentally changed due to operational changes
recommended by the Ministry of Health. There will be a
transition period over the next twelve months however the
school will still be fully operational.
