Cancer Council NSW Information Centre
Cancer Council NSW has partnered with Prince of Wales Hospital to benefit patients from across the
Randwick Hospitals Campus, their families and carers with a dedicated Cancer Council Information
Centre located in the Radiation Oncology waiting room at Prince of Wales Hospital.
The Centre is staffed by trained Cancer Council volunteers, offering cancer patients, their families
and carers with a comfortable and friendly space to access cancer information and connect to local
support services.
The 14th centre of its kind, the Centre was officially opened in November 2012. The Centre is
available to all departments and offers cancer brochures, leaflets, DVDs, internet access to the
Cancer Council NSW and other leading cancer information websites, along with a free phone to the
Cancer Council Helpline.
The idea behind the Centre is to offer a relaxed space to learn more about cancer diagnosis,
treatment and local support services and to provide some ‘time out’ amongst the busy atmosphere
of the hospital.
Open Monday to Friday during business hours, the Centre is staffed by volunteers who are ready to
help patients, their families and carers find cancer resources such as DVDs, booklets and internet
access to useful websites while providing informal support to patients and their carers.
The Centre has an extensive range of resources including Cancer Council booklets and support
service brochures, local service information and publications from other cancer organisation such as:
Canteen, CanRevive, RedKite and Leukaemia Foundation.
The Centre also utilises the Cancer Council Helpline extensively, which is staffed by health
professionals, mostly registered nurses, to provide evidence-based information on an extremely
diverse range of issues facing cancer patients.
For further information on the Centre, contact the Centre directly on 9382 2318 or visit the Centre –
no appointments are required.
