 I can stretch out sounds to produce a single syllable word.
 I can identify verbs and use a verb in a sentence with the correct tense.
 I can use the correct punctuation at the end of sentences. This means I know when to use a
period, question mark, and exclamation point.
 I can spell common word patterns and sight words.

 Journal- what are your goals for the week?
 Read “Pig in a Wig!” and identify, define, and describe the
characters (whole group)
 Introduce spelling words using the spelling PowerPoint and
chant them.
 Introduce “short i” sound.
 Play short I “I have, who has” game
 Introduce verbs
 Watch Grammar Rock Verb Video

 Discuss what a setting is and have the students to draw a
picture of the story’s setting (“grandma’s” house).

Magic Words- Write spelling words in white crayon -or
any light colored crayon, then paint over them with
watercolor paint. The white crayon acts as a resist and
the words "magically" appear.
