Biology Induction Work
For each biological molecule create a poster containing the following
information:
• Structure of monomer
• Explain how the polymer is formed (refer to bonding & condensation
reaction)
• Structure of polymer
• Relate the structure to the function of the polymer
• Test for biological molecule
• Molecules to include:
– Carbohydrates (monomer- glucose, polymers- starch & cellulose)
– Proteins (monomer- amino acids, polymers- haemoglobin &
cellulose)
– Lipids (fatty acids & glycerol, triglycerides)
– Nucleic acids (monomers- nucleotides, polymers- nucleic acids
such as DNA & RNA)
– Water as a biological molecule- how does it’s structure relate to
it’s role as a habitat and within organisms.
• This padlet wall contains links to a huge number of A level biology
resources to help you http://padlet.com/smilham/jhnccasbiology
• You will be asked to present your research for one of the biological
molecules in the first lessons when you arrive to class in September.
