When someone acting on your behalf seeks a drug reimbursement, he or she will need your Kela card or written permission so that your eligibility for a direct drug reimbursement can be established. Prescriptions work as follows: • The doctor draws up and signs the prescription electronically. He or she will then store it in the Prescription Centre. • You will receive a patient instruction sheet on paper. This gives the names of the medicines and dosage instructions. • You can then purchase the medicine from any pharmacy. • If someone else picks up your medicine from a pharmacy he or she must take along your patient instruction sheet or Kela card. When you provide your written consent, or power of attorney, another person can do the following for you: • request a summary of the medicines you are taking. • find out about all the medicines you are taking. • r equest that your prescription be cancelled when you no longer need the medicine. • r equest the renewal of your prescription.
