Materials: Multiplying Decimals Cards (tenths by hundredths)

We can rewrite expressions that involve decimals to show common fractions
when we multiply tenths by hundredths.
Example: 0.5 x 0.07 = ?
5 x 7 = 35

0.5 x 0.07 = 0.035
1. Choose three expression cards and three word problem cards. Write the
fractions that you can multiply to figure out the product for each problem, then
complete the equation.
2. Write and solve your own multiplication word problem involving multiplying
tenths by hundredths.
3. Check your work with a partner. Explain your thinking.
