Environmental Guidelines
Preambel
The protection of our environment is a key component of
the Melitta Group’s corporate strategy.
Conservation of our natural environment is fundamental for
the survival of current and future generations. All citizens,
and in particular all corporations, must face up to this
momentous responsibility – both now and in future. Only if
we act responsibly towards our environment can we hope to
reap the full social and economic benefits which the social
market economy offers.
We aim to safeguard the business success of our company
in competition with others by supplying products of excellent
quality with maximum consumer benefit and the least
possible impact on the environment. We regard
conservation as a key factor for the success of our business
strategy.
This is our responsibility!

Environmental Guidelines
The following principles serve as guidelines for the conservation-based
management of all Melitta companies:
As part of a forward-looking environmental policy we regard statutory
obligations as the minimum requirement. Our aims are higher.
The full environmental consequences of our products are considered during
their development. In this way we intend to minimize potential environmental
harm:
●
Machines and production processes are developed and operated
not only with regard to work and health safety requirements but
also according to the criteria of environmental safety.
●
Raw materials, packaging materials, water and energy are all
utilized in such a way as to have the minimum environmental
impact.
●
To the best of our knowledge our products have been produced in
an ecologically acceptable way. Their use and disposal represents
no danger to the environment.
●
We regard it as our duty to regularly test and improve the
environmental compatibility of our products.
●
We intend to avoid and reduce waste and to recycle any reusable
materials. Non-recyclable waste – which is inevitable in
industrialized nations – is to be disposed of under state
supervision and with minimum harm to the environment.
Our behaviour concerning the environment is subject to constant scrutiny with
the aim of finding and implementing possible improvements. These endeavours
are to be based upon the latest scientific and technical developments which are
within our economic means
Our managers are responsible for all questions of environmental protection
within their departments. Employees are to be involved in all activities towards
this end: they are to be informed, advised and encouraged by suitable means to
actively participate in conservation projects both within and outside the
company.
We are open to discussion and will provide customers, consumers and the
media with material relevant to our aims. We cooperate with state authorities,
trade associations and other institutions according to the principle of these
guidelines.
