Applied Environmental Science Energy Skeleton Notes (Answers)
1. Energy is defined as the ability to perform work.
2. Work is the movement of matter.
3. Kinetic energy is the energy of movement.
4. Thermal energy is the energy of heat.
5. Potential energy is stored energy.
6. The Law of Conservation of Energy states that energy can not be
created or destroyed but it can change form.
7. The Law of Conservation of Matter states that matter can not be
created or destroyed but it can change form.
8. The second law of energy states that when energy is changed from
one form to another some of the usable energy is lost.
This lost energy is usually in the form of heat.
9. A renewable source of energy is a source of energy that can be
replenished. While a nonrenewable source of energy is a source of
energy that can not be replenished.
10. Sustainable energy can be used forever.
