Shelburne Port Authority Committee Minutes of the Special Meeting Wednesday, September 11th, 2013 at 12:00 noon Council Chambers, 168 Water Street, Shelburne, NS Committee Members Present Councillor Mahaney, Council Member / Committee Chair Councillor Davis, Council Member Cathy Holmes, District Council Member Edwin Allen, Member Wayne Langthorne, Member Dylan Heide, CAO / Acting Committee Secretary Don Faye, Port Manager Committee Members Absent None Call to Order Councillor Mahaney called the meeting to order at 12:00 noon. Approval of the Agenda Accepted Consideration of Request from Mr. Alliker Re: Tyger 907 The Committee engaged in a discussion of Mr. Alliker’s requests – made in person on Sept 9th – and the background to the Tyger 907 (a derelict vessel at the Shelburne Marine Terminal). It was noted in discussion that the Tyger’s presence at the Terminal results in lost business for the Port Authority and that it would be desirable to have the Tyger removed as soon as possible. In consideration of this but with regard to Mr. Alliker’s requests, the following motion was made: (HOLMES – DAVIS) With reference to the unique circumstances surrounding the sale of the Tyger 907 by the Shelburne Port Authority, the Committee recommends to Council that the berthage rate for the Tyger 907 be reduced to $220 per month for a period of 90 days beginning from the date of sale. This reduction in the berthage rate is to be contingent on the new owner – Mr. Alliker – signing a berthage agreement with the Port Authority and installing bumpers as specified by the Port Manager within 10 days of the date of sale. It is understood that after this 90 day period the berthage rate will revert to the rates specified in our standard berthage agreement. CARRIED Public Questions & Answers: No public present.
