Modern Orthodontic Treatment:
Procedures, Methods and Outcomes
Postgraduate Dental Education Center
Örebro, Sweden, May 7-8 th 2015
William R. Proffit, DDS, PhD
Kenan Distinguished Professor, Orthodontics
University of North Carolina
Program description
This program focuses on new information about three major aspects of modern orthodontic treatment: (1) the biology
of treatment, including accelerated tooth movement, health considerations with third molars, genetic analysis, and
physiologic adaptation to surgery; (2) treatment outcomes with computer-designed treatment approaches and appliances;
and (3) evaluation of treatment outcomes, including effects of treatment timing and 3D modeling / superimposition to
evaluate skeletal anchorage vs. orthognathic surgery in severe cases.
The perspective will be based on the best available data.
