Chapter 3 Study Guide – Body Systems
Students will be able to answer the following questions:
1. What is the main function (job) of the respiratory system?
The job of the respiratory system is to bring gasses
into and out of your body. It brings in oxygen and
takes out carbon dioxide.
2. What is the main function (job) of the digestive system?
The job of your digestive system is to break food
down into the nutrients that your body can use.
3. What is the main function (job) of the circulatory system?
The job of your circulatory system is to move
(transport) the oxygen and nutrients to all of
the cells in your body
4. Explain how do systems work together?
The digestive system breaks down the food into
nutrients and the circulatory system transports
it to the cells. These systems meet in the
small intestine
The respiratory system brings in oxygen to our
body and the circulatory system transports it
to the cells. These systems meet in the air
sacs in the lungs.
5. Identify the major parts of the circulatory, respiratory, and digestive system.
Heart, Artery, Capillaries, Veins, Mouth, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, air sacs,
esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine
