You may want to look up electric force fields. California Standards: Std 4: Waves and periodic motion and Std 5: Charge and Magnetism Std 5e: Students know charged particles are sources of electric fields and are subject to the forces of the electric fields from other charges. Essential Questions: What is charge? Electricity? Magnetism? How are they related? How are they different? LEARNING OBJECTIVES FOR STUDENTS: Graphic organizers, compass learning, direct instruction, and handouts on laboratory procedures Given: learner will: conduct an experiment and write a lab report, charge, electricity, and waves by: Completing a pretest on Electro Magnetic Forces, Charges, and Magnetism, complete a prelab for an experiment on electricity, and evaluate activity effectiveness. Individual Instruction: • Take Cornell Notes on the EMF Unit from Compass Learning. Complete the specified components and their associated assessments. • Write down any specific topic that appears on the quizzes but was not covered in the presentation. • If you have not done your waves vocabulary, you need to do so this week. You should also then start the vocabulary on Electricity and Magnetism. • Complete Achieve3000 article for science for this week. Collaborative Station: Direct Instruction: • Electricity and Magnetism Intro • Begin EM Waves vocabulary. • Go to connected.mcgraw-hill.com login userid: mhescistudent passwd: science2012 scroll down to the bottom of the textbook lists and click on the physics book. Then click on Chapter 20. On the Right Hand Side, click on the Online Test Practice English. Make sure to email your test results to [email protected] and to your own laalliance e-mail. • Watch each animation in the two sections and then take the two Section Self Checks. Make sure to e-mail the results of the Section Self Checks to [email protected] and to your own laalliance e-mail. Also, complete the word document titled “Reflection on McGraw Hill Resources” and submit that via e-mail as well.
