1. Both are short ancient Greek poems.

They both are about the sun and mention
Greek gods. They are different in that the
first explains the daily rising and setting
of the sun. The second describes a
frightening and unusual event that
seems to have no explanation.

1. Cyrus let the people he conquered keep
their own customs because he hoped that
this would make it less likely for them
to rebel.
2. Alexander was called Alexander the Great
because his efforts to build an empire
made him one of the greatest conquerors
in history.
3. Spartan women owned much of the land
in Sparta; ran their households when
their husbands were gone; and received
physical training in running, jumping,
wrestling, and throwing javelins. They
even sometimes competed with men in
sporting events. Athenian women received
little or no education, and most received
training only in household tasks like
weaving and sewing.
4. The Greek designers took such care in
designing their buildings because they
wanted their buildings to reflect the
greatness of their cities.
