SENIOR GRANT WRITER SALARY: Commensurate with experience FTE/FLSA: Full-time, Exempt LOCATION: 3003 S. Country Club Road FUNCTION: Under the supervision of the Vice President of Development, this position is responsible for the overall grants program at a large food bank with a year-round submission schedule. The Senior Grant Writer is part of a team of professionals who together win numerous grant proposals annually. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Research and identify new government and foundation funding prospects and present them to the Grants Committee; Working with the Government Resources Manager, generate revenues for agency programs and services through timely submission of well-researched, well-written and well-documented fund-raising proposals; Maintain current knowledge about the operations and programs of CFB and branch banks; Lead the Grants Committee meetings at which grant priorities are set and recommendations developed for the management team; Attend meetings and training seminars as assigned by the VP of Development; maintain knowledge of best practices and technology advances for grant writing; Actively update statistics to maintain accuracy and consistency in CFB reports, grant narratives and other materials as assigned; Stay up-to-date on local and national hunger/poverty trends; Follow-up on grants submitted; correspond with program officers, as necessary; Maintain well-organized grant-related files on the Development server, for use by managers and Grants Committee members; Work with the stewardship team to include awards in the database and maintain the grant chart for monthly Board meetings; Identify key program personnel for reporting, and coordinate with the Government Resources Manager to ensure reports are submitted as required; Work with the Executive Assistant to maintain grant files; Perform related activities as assigned by the VP of Development; Attend weekly Development Team meetings and monthly staff meetings. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: • Bachelor’s degree or higher; • 3-5 years of grant writing experience; Comprehensive understanding and skills for managing a well-tuned grants program expected to raise millions of dollars each year; Demonstrated excellent writing skills; Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple deadlines; Knowledge of foundations, corporate giving programs and government funding agencies; Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and online submission protocols; excellent formatting and document production skills; skilled in preparing budgets and associated spreadsheets; Ability to work as a member of a team with all contributing staff involved in the grant production process; Good sense of humor and ability to keep personal balance under stressful deadlines or technical difficulties associated with grant submissions; Empathy for the people served by the Community Food Bank; Love of the art of the proposal.
