 Cofactors
are any non-protein molecules
or ions that are required for the proper
functioning of an enzyme.
Cofactors function
in various ways, but
in all cases where
they are used, they
perform a crucial
function in
catalysis.
Cofactors can be permanently bound to
the active site or may bind loosely with
the substrate during catalysis.
Some are inorganic. (metal atoms zinc, iron and
copper) If it is organic, its specifically called a…
Some vitamins that have coenzymes are
Vitamin A:
common in
pumpkins and
carrots.
Vitamin B12: one of
the most common
vitamins found in
the majority of our
food.
Vitamin Q10:
found in meat,
poultry and
fish
Life Example: This is why you are told to
take your vitamins and eat right. Fruits
