WWI Propaganda Posters
Propaganda is a powerful tool that has been used throughout history
and continues to be used to great effect today. We will be looking at 20
different posters that were used during WWI by the U.S. and other
countries to further their war efforts. Essentially propaganda is
advertising, which falls into 5 catagories:
1. Bandwagon: persuading people to do something by letting them
know that others are doing it
2. Testimonial: using the words of a famous person to persuade
3. Transfer: using the names or pictures of famous people, but not
direct quotations
4. Repetition: the product name is repeated at least 4 times
5. Emotional words: words that will make people feel strongly about
someone or something
How does propaganda affect our lives every day?
How and why was propaganda used to persuade people during WWI?

posters we viewed?
