Steamboat Chamber Welcomes Two New Staff Members
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — March 31, 2016
Two new staff members joined the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association at the start of 2016,
filling the roles of Digital Communications Manager and Events Coordinator. The Public Relations
Manager position was filled internally in November.
Maren McCutchan has stepped into the role of Public Relations Manager after five years working on the
Chamber Special Events team. Maren moved to the Yampa Valley from her hometown of Fort Collins
with a B.A. in Communications and Business Administration from Colorado State University. “From the
moment I moved here fresh out of college, I felt completely embraced by the Chamber and Steamboat
community. I’m so excited to be taking on this new role and look forward to spreading the good word
about this unique place that I call home.”
The new Events Coordinator, Sarah Konopka, is a familiar face to the Special Events department. She
moved to Steamboat in the summer of 2014 after accepting a Special Events Internship with the
Chamber to complete her degree in Natural Resource Recreation Tourism from Colorado State
University. “I loved Steamboat in the summer so much that I decided to stay for the winter and haven’t
left. Living in Steamboat Springs and being apart of this vibrant community often feels like a dream to
me.” Growing up in the Denver area, Konopka has submerged herself in mountain life and can be found
hiking and camping with her rescue dog Charlie, painting, or enjoying live music.
Digital Communications Manager Scott Larson started in January. He moved to Steamboat Springs to
find a career that allowed him to pursue his love for skiing. A graduate of the University of Denver in his
fourth year in the valley, Scott is a true Steamboat athlete who lists trail running and road biking as
some of his favorite activities. “We have the best playground ever here in Steamboat. I love working for
the Chamber because it allows me to share why this is such a special place to our potential visitors and
return guests.” Scott also volunteers at Horizons Specialized Services and plays drums in the worship
band at the Steamboat Christian Center.
“Our outstanding team at the Chamber is even stronger with these new additions.” stated Jim Clark,
Chamber CEO, “Maren is a veteran of the organization, and her knowledge of the community and the
Chamber make her perfectly suited for this position. Scott is familiar with the lodging community from
his time with Steamboat Central Reservations and brings a wealth of experience in the digital world.
Sarah proved to be a positive and enthusiastic member of the team as an intern and on our seasonal
event staff prior to joining us full time.”
