An extended metaphor draws that comparison out and compares the two things in many ways. Sometimes the comparison is carried throughout a stanza, a paragraph, or an entire literary work. Identify and interpret the parts of the extended metaphor in “A Black man Talks of Reaping,” in which the African-­‐American race is compared to a farmer. In the chart below, one example is done for you. In addition to that example, find at least three other parts of the metaphor and write interpretations for each.
