1. agents of change—flood, volcano, and ice shaped where we
live
2. flood—an overflowing of a large amount of water
3. volcano— a mountain having a crater or vent which lava, rock
fragments, hot vapor, and gas are being are being released
4. divergent boundary—occurs when two plates move away from
each other
5. convergent boundary—occurs when two plates come together
6. transform boundary—occurs when two plates are sliding past
each other
7. subduction—one plate slipping under another plate
8. tectonic plates— earth’s surface is made up of a series of plates
(like a jigsaw puzzle) that are in constant motion
9. crust— outermost layer of a planet
10. Columbia River Gorge— an area in the Pacific Northwest
where a canyon that stretches for over 80 miles as the river
winds westward through the Cascade Range forming the
boundary between the State of Washington and Oregon
