I. Viruses
A. Virus – tiny, nonliving
particle that enters and
reproduces inside a cell.
B. Host Cell – cell used by a
virus to reproduce
C. Viruses act like parasites by
using the host cell.
II. Structure of Viruses
A. All viruses have a protein
coat outside and genetic
material inside.
B. Surface Proteins - are used
to lock on to a cell membrane.
III. Virus Reproduction
A. Virus inserts its genetic
material into the host cell.
B. The host cell is used to
make new viruses, host cell is
destroyed.
