Associate in Arts in Liberal Arts: Psychology/Sociology/Anthropology
By combining professional courses in psychology and sociology with a broad background in
liberal arts, the program provides students with skills to think critically, to analyze psychological
and sociological issues within the classroom setting, and to develop an appreciation of social
and cultural diversity in the contemporary world. Students graduating from the Associate in
Arts in Liberal Arts: Psychology/Sociology/Anthropology will achieve proficiency in the collegewide learning outcomes.
Successful graduates of the program will be able to:
• Identify core concepts, perspectives and trends in psychology and sociology.
• Identify the appropriate research method for collecting and analyzing various types of
data.
• Compare and contrast competing theories of human behavior and social issues.
• Demonstrate professional behavior by listening respectfully and using value neutral
language when interacting with diverse groups.
• Understand and relate psychological and sociologic concepts to everyday life
experiences.
• Understand and use appropriately a variety of technological tools.
• Use scientific knowledge and methodology to test, validate, and update their knowledge
about the natural world.
