GRAF wins second innovation award
Federal Ministry of Economics recognises Carat XXL
tank
The Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, under the patronage of the Federal Minister of Economics
and Technology Philipp Rösler, nominated more than
300 companies for the ZIM 2013 innovation award.
On 16 May 2013, GRAF won first prize for developing a
welding process for the Carat XXL tank which can be used to
produce underground tanks with a volume of up to 100 000
litres. The process was developed by GRAF in collaboration
with the Technical University of Chemnitz.
GRAF beat off high-calibre competition from all over Germany. At the end of 2010, the company was delighted to come
first in the Baden Württemberg innovation award. This second award is impressive evidence of the innovation of the
mid-sized company.
"Germany occupies a leading position amongst competitive
national economies. German SMEs are one of the main driving forces behind this development," said parliamentary state
secretary Ernst Burgbacher at the award ceremony.
Bundestag member Peter Weiss confirmed the outstanding
work of the Teningen-based specialist in rainwater harvesting: "Two innovation awards, one in Baden Württemberg and
one in Germany as whole, are evidence of an incredible innovation strategy." Weiss believes that GRAF has demonstrated for a number of years now that innovation management can be planned.
The tanks are already being sold in more than 60 countries
around the globe. The company exports more than 50% of
its products. GRAF hopes that this new tank will open up
new markets and applications.
