For intelligent installation in partition wall systems: Gira ITS 30
Flexible multi-talent
Flexible partition wall systems play an increasingly important role in the
design of modern room concepts in building construction. Here
architects make increasing use of transparent solutions. However,
glass partition walls caused problems for the electrical installation up
until now. Gira has accepted this challenge and will present an
installation system with the greatest possible functionality and
flexibility at the Light + Building, which also meets the demanding
design requirements in high-quality building interior decoration.
With modern partition wall systems, room concepts can be realised quickly
and can then still be changed later. Of course, this demands an enormous
degree of flexibility from electrical engineering. Especially here the Gira ITS
30 developed for intelligent installation in partition wall systems sets new
standards. As a "before-wall installation system", it is especially intended for
use on glass partition-wall elements: Special installation housings are
mounted on a base rail between the door reveal and partition wall. These
housings hold devices and functions of the electrical installation and Instabus
technology. Now socket outlets, switches, orientation lights, automatic control
switches, blind control buttons and push button sensors can be positioned
before the glass wall and near the room door.
The base rail is inserted in a joint with a width of just 30 mm between the
door and the partition wall. The slim profile eliminates the need for the wide
panel required here in the past and also offers considerable cost advantages
compared to conventional installations. With glass walls the advantage of
Gira ITS 30 is apparent: Due to the narrow joint, the amount of glass in the
partition walls increased, allowing considerably more transparency and
brightness in the room . Of course, the system can also be integrated in solid
partition walls. The base rail serves as an installation duct for power and
control cables that can be routed in from the ceiling or floor. Following
installation, the rail is closed with an aluminium cover.
The housings mounted on the base rail including the functions integrated in
– 2 –
them join via special cover frames to form a uniform design range. All
modules from five Gira switch ranges with over 180 functions and the Gira
SmartSensor room control device can be integrated in it. As a result, the well
thought-out installation system offers a unique depth of functions for the
entire range of electrical installations in modern buildings. But it was not
developed by Gira alone, but instead in co-operation with the manufacturer
Mabeg, the specialist for management and orientation systems. And it is
therefore also possible to integrate door and name plates from the Mabeg
product range COM.form in the Gira ITS 30.
The Gira ITS 30 installation system available from autumn 2004 meets the
requirement for the greatest possible flexibility for room planning and use,
especially in building and investment construction. For the module design
enables changes in room use to be realised quickly and at low cost: In next
to no time the various individual functions can be installed in the profile,
replaced or interconnected, e.g. when several rooms are combined to form a
conference room and many simple function units are to be combined in a
SmartSensor .
The Gira SmartSensor is a control and operating unit for all Instabus
functions in a room which is already available on the market. It combines
many otherwise individual functions usually controlled with push button
sensors in one device. Its operation is simple, convenient and intuitive via a
LC display, an operating button for turning and pressing or via rockers on the
device. The rotary/push button is used to navigate within the operating
structure shown on the display. The display visualises the menu items
required for navigation. By turning the knob the user can scroll through the
menu, and by pressing it an item in the menu can be selected. The four
additional rockers on the side of the device are used for a direct (and
therefore quick) operation of the most important functions.
