IMPORTANT SCHEDULE CHANGE: Due to the weather, the teacher planning day has been changed from Friday, January
27th to Friday, February 3rd. There will be a regular school day on the 27th, and no school for students on Friday, February 3rd.
Important information from the Nurse Jennifer: The flu socked the Portland area this season just in time for Christmas.
That's much earlier than usual. No one knows why it hit early this year. It could be the cold weather, which prompts people t o
congregate together inside, making it easier to spread germs. Still, a vaccine can blunt the thrust of the bug. It takes two weeks
for the shot to take effect. Health officials recommend that everyone older than 6 months get vaccinated. Learn more at:

Inclement Weather: To receive the latest Inclement Weather information from PPS, be certain to add your cell phone number

Movie Night: Friday, Jan. 27
Finding Dory
Concession stand opens at 5:30. Movie starts at 6pm.
Principal Annie has offered financial assistance for those families who would like to come to Movie Night but need help with
dinner. Please contact the office if you would like to accept this offer.
PTA Volunteer Opportunities:
Please help us with Movie Night. We need 6 volunteers to cashier and serve at the concession stand, help at the door and
monitor hallways during the movie. Kids can pitch in too if they're great at helping out.
*Volunteers get a free slice of pizza (cheese or pepperoni), a bottled drink (juice or sparkling/non-sparkling water) and popcorn.
*Please arrive by 5pm sign up on the PTA board or contact [email protected] if interested.
Our PTA's first auction is this spring, March 10. Volunteers are needed for many different items.
Evening of March 10 with prep work between now and then
Raises funds for the playground including plans to replace the wooden play structure by summer 2018.
Angela Gillette, Auction Committee Chair, needs help.
Procurement Committee
Commit to contacting 5, 10, 15 businesses to ask for auction donations. A procurement letter and instructions are available contact [email protected] for more information.
Event Night Committee
Help plan our auction night event - interested in organizing food, drinks, decorations and planning auction bid sheets?
Marketing/Communications
Help publicize our auction event - we will be rolling out communications to Grout between now and March 10th.
Volunteer Coordinator
On the night of the event we will need multiple volunteers to set up, check in, assist with auction bidding/checkout and clean up
after the event. If you are interested in running this or want to volunteer at the event please let us know.
PTA Note: If you want to keep up to date on how parents and Grout staff are supporting immigrant families in our community,
please make sure to ask to join [email protected]. Members there are sharing information learned
from other community groups, learning about proactive steps being taken in our neighborhoods or in some cases, simply
befriending one family at a time.
