1. What was the Space Race?

This began a Space Race between the US and the USSR as each country tried
to be the first to explore space. This had a positive effect on the US as we
worked to make our education system excellent, industries worked
together, and computer technology developed. President Kennedy made it
a national goal to put a man on the moon by the end of the 1960s. The
USSR was the first to put a man into outer space, the US put the first man
on the moon (Neil Armstrong).
