Unit 1: Enlightenment and Revolutions (French and American)
30-40 days
This unit will focus on the birth of Democracy around the world. Democratic governments that many nations enjoy today are a direct result
of Revolutions, such as the American and French Revolutions. These Revolutions were directly influenced by the Enlightenment.
Unit 2: Industrial Revolution and Imperialism
30- 40 days
This unit focuses on how changes in technology and new business methods led to drastic changes in societies, economies and governments,
and resulted in Imperialism. Treatment of unindustrialized peoples will be discussed, as well as how Imperialism leads to cooperation and
conflict
Unit 3: World Wars and Economic Crisis
30-40 days
This unit examines the connections between World War I and World War II. It will include an analysis of the causes and consequences of
both World Wars. The impact of the Russian Revolution and the economic crisis affected governmental policies throughout the world that
resulted in a world wide depression.
Unit 4: The Cold War and the Modern World
30-40 days
This unit will focus on the resulting post-WW II conflict of political and economic ideologies, especially between the USA & USSR. It will
include studies of the independence and ethnic struggles in Asia and Africa, the fall of the USSR, the Middle East conflict and the move
toward economic globalization.
