Students will need to know the following for each of the 3 explorers (Columbus,
Cabot, and Cortes):
- Country/Sponsor
- Year of voyage
- At least (3) reasons for voyage
- At least (3) accomplishments
Important Facts:
1. The 3 main reasons for exploration were: trade, land, and religion.
2. This explorer was a Viking who may have found America well before anyone
else.

3. Explorer who came from Italy and inspired many to explore. He was
responsible for finding a land route to the West Indies, as well as a water
route.
