Clarkston Urban Garden
with residences
In use for cultivation of chemical and pesticide-free produce since 1996.
An active garden since 1952.
 Main Garden: One acre of flat, useable area. Soil has a high
organic content and is sandy. Ideally suited to growing carrots,
beets, lettuce, etc. Growing season is all year with use of row
covers. Zoned for agriculture. Has an 80’ deep bored well with
clear water serviced by electric pump. Supply can be augmented
from second well across the street.
 House Garden: About 1/3 acre of flat area, also with excellent
soil. Zoned residential. Has a 240’ drilled well with clear water,
serviced by electric pump. Output is 10-13 gallons per minute
which will supply five impulse sprinklers at one time. Can be used
to augment supply to Main Garden. Zoned residential.
 Ranch House – Built in 1963, four sides brick, central a/c; 3
bedrooms, 1 bath. Two-car garage and w/d connections. Very
good condition.
 Farm House – Build in 1920, frame construction, 2 bedrooms, 1
bath; w/d connections, screen porch. Fair condition.
A ready market exists for the produce. These gardens supply private
retailers, farmer’s markets and recently have added two hospitals to
their client roster.
Owner would like to rent all or part of the properties to a social
services entity, church or refugee resettlement agency which could use
the homes and gardens to house and employ clients. Owner would
negotiate continued involvement as a mentor and for assistance with
marketing the produce.
