1.3 Spelling of verb + -s:
Most verbs add -s to the base for of the verb: exp.: wants, works, eats, helps ...
We add -es to verbs n and: -ss, -sh, -ch, -x and -o: exp.: kisses, washes, watches,
fixes, goes ...
Verbs that end in a constant (soglasnik) + -y change the -y to -ies: exp.: carries, flies,
worries, tries …
But verbs that end in a vowel (samoglasnik) + -y only add -s: exp.: buys, says, plays,
enjoys ...

An activity that’s happening now: exp.: At the moment I’m writing notes, to learn
English.
An activity that’s true now, but isn’t necessarily happening at the moment of
speaking: exp.: Don’t take this book! I’m reading it.
A temporarily activity: exp.: I’m living with my friends until I find a place of my
own.
A planed future arrangement: exp.: I’m visiting my grandmother’s tomorrow.
2.3 Spelling of verb + -ing:
Most verbs add -ing to the base for of the verb: exp.: going, walking, visiting, eating,
wearing ...
Verbs that end in one -e lose the -e: exp.: coming, driving, writing ...
Verbs that end in -ee don’t drop the -e: exp.: agreeing, seeing ...
!!! lie – lying !!!
Verbs of one syllable (kratki, nedeljivi in enozložni glagoli), with one vowel and one
constant, double the constant: exp.: stopping, getting, running, planning, jogging ...
If the final constant is -y or -w, it is not doubled: exp.: playing, showing ...
