Propaganda Project
After reviewing and understanding the propaganda techniques and classifications, you will apply
them in a creation of your own. You and your partner will be creating propaganda posters that deal with
issues that could be relevant to high school students, environments, or governments. Imagine that the high
school is a totalitarian state (is it, already?) and that everyone should behave a certain way and espouse
specific values. What would those behaviors entail? What would be the focus? You may be as creative as
you want to be with your issue, but make sure it is school-appropriate.
Directions:
1. Produce a poster that focuses on a specific issue. It should be a combination of words and visuals
(the visuals should dominate and the message should be clear) that clearly illustrates one of the
techniques or categories from the list below.
2. Use glogster to create your poster. The website is http://edu.glogster.com I will provide you with
log-ins and passwords.
3. When finished reate a linked page for your poster and embed the glog into the wikispace page.
4. Write a brief (5-7 sentence) explanation detailing the inspiration and interpretation of your
propaganda piece.
5. Individually comment on your 3 of your classmates projects in the discussion tab of the page,
indicating the effectiveness of their project. Speak to the subject matter, choice of visual, rhetoric
and overall effectiveness.
