SCIENCE NOTES - WEATHER
LESSON 4 (Chapter 10)
Where does water vapor come from?
- The water in the air is water vapor. The amount of water vapor in the
air is humidity.
- What gets into the air by evaporation, the water turns from a liquid to
a gas.
- Condensation is when water vapor changes from a gas to a liquid.
- Relative humidity is a comparison between how much water vapor is
in the air and how much the air can hold.
- Precipitation is when water falls down to Earth.
What Happens When Warm Air Cools?
- Air gets colder by reaching a higher altitude.
- When cold air and warm air meets, the warm air gets pushed upward
(which makes it cool).
