CIRCULATORY SYSTEM


The human circulatory system is made up of blood, the heart, and blood vessels
The circulatory system’s function is to move substances around the body:
- Carry blood to the lungs to become oxygenated then flow to body tissues
and return oxygen depleted red blood cells back to the lungs
- Helps to regulate body temperature
- Transport disease fighting white blood cells to areas of infection
- Transport waste such as carbon dioxide to the lungs to be released, as well as
other wastes which are carried to the kidney’s for filtration and excretion
Parts of the Circulatory System:
1. Blood – type of connective tissue, made of 4 components

Red Blood Cells

2. The Heart – made up of 3 tissues: cardiac muscles tissue, nerve tissue, and connective
tissue
 frequency of the beat (heart rate) depends on physical activity, stress, temperature,
and general health
