Screening Cutoff:
Confirmation Cutoff:
50 ng/ml
15 ng/ml
Linearity:
Up to 135 ng/ml
Confirmation LOD:
5 ng/ml
Confirmation Indicates:
TASC-Arizona: Marijuana metabolite ONLY (11-nor-delta-6-THC)
Quest Diagnostics: Marijuana metabolite ONLY (11-nor-delta-6-THC)
Expectations: The test detects the metabolite of the THC, meaning the body is breaking down the
drug for elimination. Therefore, marijuana must have been smoked or eaten in order for the reaction to
occur. Second hand smoke might give a reading if client is in a closed room with excessive smokers
all using at one time. Otherwise, not enough is inhaled to test positive. The eating two brownies
containing 22 mg of THC, can be positive up to 11 days. (22 mg = 0.00077 oz!)
Effects:
Causes euphoria, slowed thinking and reaction time, confusion, impaired balance and coordination,
cough. Frequent respiratory infections, impaired memory and learning, increased heart rates, anxiety,
panic attacks and addiction. (Ref: www.drugabuse.gov/drugpages - 4/8/04)
Medical Uses:
None, although studies on synthetic THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) have shown it to be anti-emetic (antinausea) and possibly useful in treating glaucoma and ADHD.
Substances That Cause Positive Results:
 No other substances can be mistaken for marijuana.
 The drug "Sustiva" WILL affect the CEDIA assay for THC, but not other assay methods,
including GC/MS confirmation.
 Hemp Oil products do not contain enough THC by law, to cause a false positive.
