The goddess, Athena was jealous of Medusa and turned her beautiful hair into snakes. Medusa sure had a bad hair day every single day! Medusa had the destructive power to turn anyone who looked directly at her into stone. The Greek Hero Perseus was sent to decapitate Medusa. He cut off Medusa's head by reflecting her image in his mirrored shield, and cut off Medusa's head with his sword.
