VOCABULARY THINK-TAC-TOE
OUT of 9 points: 3=correct use of the terms, 2=used the terms, 1=had a product, no connection to the terms.
Directions: Below is a think-tac-toe that will help you to understand the fifteen vocabulary words about government in Unit 4. Using the vocabulary
matrix completed in class, complete THREE squares. They must create a tic-tac-toe, either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Remember you must
go in a straight line; you can’t just pick three assignments at random. The ten words, that are the more difficult of the fifteen, must be used in each
assignment are constitutionalism, implied powers, judicial review, elastic clause, electoral college, expressed powers, principles of the US
government, sovereignty, separation of powers, and federalism. (*-means add color, cp-means computer paper provided)
Create an acrostic poem. Write the
word ‘government’ vertically on a
piece of computer paper. Each letter is
used in the construction of phrases or
sentences to describe the then words.
Be creative with the letters in
Government.
Create a written newscast incorporating
the ten terms. Be sure to think about the
context and how you are using the terms.
There must two news anchors involved
with the newscast. Underline or highlight
each term.

Direct a scene or scenes from a
fictional or non-fictional movie
that incorporate the ten terms.
Be sure you are using the terms in
correct context and include a
script with your lines.

Create a facial expression matrix.
Create a table or matrix with ten
boxes for each of the ten words.
Draw heads with pertinent facial
expressions and related thought
bubbles to summarize how a
person would feel living under
that government. (cp)

Create a bubble map for each of the
ten words. You should brainstorm at
least two synonyms for each word and
put them on the bubble map.
Neatness counts. (cp)
Create a simile for each of the ten
vocabulary words. A simile is a
comparison of two things or ideas using
like or as. It is not enough just to write the
simile, you must explain it too.

Create a crossword puzzle using the ten
words. Make sure that you include the
clues at the bottom. You can not use
the definition your teacher gave you –
you must create your own clues. (cp)
Create a political cartoon* for each of
the ten terms. Be sure to think about
context and did you use that term
correctly. (cp)
Create a riddle for each of the
ten vocabulary words. Your
riddle should have a minimum of
four lines, should be written in the
first person and the last line
should be “what am I?” Make
sure you have an answer key.
