The Postclassical Era
600-1400 (ish) CE
In this second unit, we will explore the really old stuff. We’ll look at the developments that connect
the world after the fall of the first great civilizations. You will see the rise of global religions like
Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam. You will see trade networks connect the world by land and sea.
You will see new civilizations rise from the ashes of the classical civilizations, and spread to areas
previously uncivilized. Lastly, you will see nomadic groups like the Mongols connect it all into one big
world.
