The new GEZE ECwire hold-open systems –
convenient installation in every room
Doors between fire sections must close quickly and
securely to prevent hazardous exhaust gases from
spreading in the case of fire. However, the usage of
buildings and rooms occasionally requires doors to be
kept open, for example in order to enable universal
access. Hold-open systems keep fire protection doors
open electrically and close them safely in the event of a
fire – triggered by fire alarms. GEZE provides all the
components of a hold-open system from a single source.

The new ECwire hold-open system provides excellent functionality and safety and a design
that fits perfectly into any room situation. The innovative 2-wire ECwire technology makes
installation easy: only two wires are necessary for the connection of lintel and ceilingmounted detectors – the line monitoring is activated automatically and without any additional
components. Installation is particularly easy in rooms that require two additional ceilingmounted fire detectors. These can be integrated quickly and are included in the practical
package solutions.
Installation and commissioning are convenient, as the new ECwire hold-open system means
that "fiddling” with resistances or load resistor modules can be dispensed with. DIP switches
can be set up easily. Faults are identified separately for each detector and displayed with an
LED fault code. A long life span of the fire alarms is guaranteed by the intelligent control of
the level of soiling with a permanent adaptation of the alarm threshold. ECwire hold-open
systems are tested in accordance with EN 14637.
GEZE offers ECwire hold-open systems as complete sets with the necessary ceilingmounted detectors. A variety of sets are available, each with two ceiling-mounted detectors,
for installation on single and double-leaf doors on the hinge side or opposite hinge side. The
smoke switch control unit RSZ6 ECwire can be combined with the tried-and-tested GEZE
hold-open mechanisms.
