The purpose of this lab is to familiarize the student with the Jar Test Able to measure chemical oxygen demand (COD) in an unknown using the closed reflux colorimetric method. Able to estimate the oxygen demand of organic matter when it is subjected to oxidation by a strong chemical oxidant in water. Able to determine the oil and grease content in the given wastewater sample. Able to determine the heavy metals content in the given wastewater sample using DR2000 spectrophotometer The purpose of this lab is to familiarize the student with the spectrophotometer Determine the total viable count in the given wastewater sample by agar plate count method. the number of coliform bacteria in the given wastewater sample multiple tube method. To determine the dissolved oxygen in the given water samples by titration and using a DO meter. Answer lab questions Answer lab questions Answer lab questions Answer lab questions Answer lab questions Answer lab questions Answer lab questions E9 9 To determine the biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) of the given wastewater samples. Demonstration/ Instruction The students will work in groups and submit lab report The purpose of this lab is to practice the 5-day BOD test. To determine the amount of oxygen necessary for biological oxidation of wastewater, effluents, and polluted waters. To determine the amount of oxygen required by bacteria while stabilizing decomposable organic matter.
