Distributive Property
Distributive Property is a
property we use to simplify
expressions. We use
multiplication to do this.
Multiply what is outside of the
parentheses with everything
inside of the parentheses.
Examples: 7(x + 2) = 7x + 14
Use the distributive property to
write an equivalent variable
expression.
1. 8(x + 2)
2. (7 – t)(-4)
3. 9(3m – 5)
4. -2(6y + 4)
5. (6x – 2) ½
6. ⅜(32x – 12)
Use the distributive property to
simplify an equation before
solving.
7. 6(5 – 2x) < 13
8. -4(x + 10) > 62
